There are restaurant's all over the old town which service anything from full English breakfasts to local tapas and prices are very reasonable. We do recommended that you check out the more local restaurant's and get a taste of traditional island food. Pescado a la sal, fish baked in salt, and 'Sancocho Canario', a stew made with dried fish and potatoes are some of the more popular traditional foods and two of our favourites! If you opt for a self-catering villa, then why not purchase some local fresh produce to cook. Fish markets are all over the island and ever Friday the markets sell fresh fish caught the very same day! Getting Around It is easy to walk around the whole town of Playa Blanca on foot, so you don't need to worry too much about transportation. Taxis are available and inexpensive, there is one bus available to take you around the town and only takes a half hour to ride it full circle. The airport is 45 minutes away from Playa Blanca and there are many shuttle bus services to take you to and from.

I've vowed to see more of the Islands this year. First stop is the Lake District. The trouble is, I'm finding it hard to locate accommodation. I want somewhere self-catering, but I'm not aware of a decent site where I can search for them, aside from flipkey. Does anyone have any advice in this regard? There's probably going to be quite a few couples, maybe 5 couples in total. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of staying near Ambleside. Or possibly Keswick, but Keswick seems to have even less accommodation. Also, while we're at it, what are good things to do? So far I've got my eye on; Gorge Scrambling Swimming Nature Walks Fishing Kayaking Climbing Caving/Potholing Am I missing out on anything good? Are all of these activities within easy reach of either Ambleside/Keswick? Which town would you recommend? We could do with a bit of night life. Not a lot, just a couple of reasonable pubs. Travel wise, is it easy to get to these activities via public transport or is a car strongly recommended?

Only emergency medical personnel on board. level 1 No, there isn't really a need for that sort of thing. People only spend a week or so on the ship, so there is really no need for specialists. As for crew, if they had to see a specialist for something they would be sent to a medical facility on land. The closest thing I could think of to something like this would be a massage therapist, acupuncturist, who specialized in feet. level 1 There would generally only be two doctors on a ships medial staff, so I can't imagine there would be room for specialists. There is sometimes doctors on the spa staff for things like botox, but I have never come access a podiatrists. level 1 I've seen personnel from the spa or fitness center offer a footprint analysis, but I'm sure it's a ploy to sell you something.
