CCTV technology allows us to keep an eye on what's going on around the community, adding an extra layer of protection to the public. Protection against theft, burglaries, armed robberies, farm attacks, stock theft, to name a few. These cameras enable us to view events live on our monitors and archive footage for later reference useful as evidence in criminal investigations and court cases. We have had a number of these cameras up for years in and around Grahamstown Makhanda, financed by both Hi-Tec Security and community members. More cameras are added to crime hotspots all the time as the need arise and can be seen around the CBD and town. We currently have around 30 public CCTV cameras monitoring city streets, approximately 20 more outside schools and complexes as well as a handful of License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras, with more in the pipeline.
