Calahonda is a small seaside town in Andalucia's Costa Tropical, nestled in the Granada Province between the much larger Granada and Motril. As it is generally quieter than some of the surrounding towns on the Costa Tropical, it is great for kids, and it can also be a low cost destination for a family holiday. What to do in Calahonda Calahonda's sandy beach is probably the main attraction of this small town for family holidays, but there is a lot more to do than just soaking up the sun. Although it is a modern resort town, signs of Calahonda's past, including its Moorish heritage, can be seen everywhere, particularly in the ancient watch towers that are dotted along the coastline. For sports fans there is also an excellent golf course, and two diving centres within easy reach of the beach. The coastline features many rocky cliffs which are great spots to go diving and snorkelling, and there are facilities to hire equipment if this interests you. You are also just a short drive away from the larger town of Granada, which has a lot more in the way of restaurants, shopping facilities and nightlife - so the bustle of a glitzy resort holiday is there if you want it, or you can have a slightly quieter family break with the kids in Calahonda itself.

The community is very small and sometimes our hard working chefs, baristas and wait staff like to head to the beach too, so you'll need to pay close attention to what establishment is open at any particular time. These restaurants and cafes are located close to your accommodation, making your meal choices flexible and relaxed. Don't rush – you're on an island. Fishing and charters Anyone can catch a fish here. Squid, sweep, salmon and gummy are all on the menu, with snapper and other choice fish available if you're keen. Your island accommodation is surrounded with pristine beaches and access through private land is fine if you leave the gates as you find them. The Wharfs at Currie, Grassy and at the famous Naracoopa Jetty, will always yield fish and have a chat to Terry at Terry Perry's store in Currie to get the latest tips and stock up your fishing equipment and baits. If you are looking for a charter, then consider Proline Charters. They service King Island when the fish are about, so visit their site or call.

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions? I'm at my hotel after booking a rental car and driving it here, and someone at the hotel mentioned it. Crockery, cutlery, towels, bedding may be included in the more expensive lettings but may be subject to negotiation and not always provided. When you are viewing properties it is sensible to discuss with the landlord or letting agent exactly what will be included. You can then ensure you have an accurate inventory which is normally drawn up at the start and expiry of any lettings agreement. There may be a charge for this to be compiled. An inventory is normally easy to understand and will state clearly who carried it out and when. The purpose of this will be to provide an overview of the whole property and list its contents including details of working smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors. It may also contain an up to date record of meter readings. Amendments can be made to add details of anything that is missing, note any damage that has not been recorded and take photos, state if anything is not working and amend meter readings. Only sign and date the inventory when you are happy it is accurate.
